about

A song about release, anticipation, anxiety, and rebirth.
Also books. Lots of books.

lyrics

Stacked up to the ceiling
The book keeper waits in a shower of paper
beyond an empire of sand
she sits and reads and waits all day
for a knight in gold to steal her away
she shudders from anticipation
and waits, and waits, and waits

and as the days go on and the nights crawl by
and the book keeper looks up to the sky to see that
nothing's changed, yet again
left without a single friend

I can't go on alone now, can you please lend me your hand?
I'm lost inside the apathy, can you help me make that stand?
from her ivory tower, up on high,
she sighs and kisses the world goodnight for the last time
the book keeper waits

but one day something changed
above the paper and leather she peeked out to see
a city skyline she hadn't seen for years
she digs a tunnel to the front door

as the days go on and the nights crawl by
and the book keeper looks up to the sky to see that
nothing's changed, yet again
left without a single friend

I can't go on alone now, can you please lend me your hand?
I'm lost inside the apathy, can you help me make that stand?
from her ivory tower, up on high,
she sighs and kisses the world goodnight for the last time

as the days go on and the nights crawl by
and the book keeper looks up to the sky to see that
nothing's changed, yet again
she stumbles into a random building
sees a sign to predict her future
and then the empire of sand back home came tumbling down

she watches as the sun goes down
and caresses these distant walls of steel
as the library she now runs closes down for the night
she turns around to meet her savior's arms

back in the car they sat and thought of the old times
back when the world was so cruel
can you remember when she said

I can't go on alone now, can you please lend me your hand?
I'm lost inside the apathy, can you help me make that stand?
from her ivory tower, up on high,
she sighs and kisses the world goodnight for the last time
the book keeper waits
